About Webster University

Webster University is a is an American private university with the main campus in Webster Groves, which is a suburb in St. Louis, Missouri state's second largest city, having a population of more than 356 500 inhabitants, also being the principal municipality of Greater St. Louis, which is the the largest urban area in Missouri and 15th-largest in the United States, housing nearly 2,893 000 people, within its limits.


Webster was established in 1915 and was founded by the Sisters of Loretto, as Loretto College, a Catholic women's colleges. In 1962 it started to also admit men, today, its enrollment being approximated at a number of approximately 21 000 male and female students, most of which are graduates. In total, Webster offers its students more than 75 different majors, and also offers online programs and international study opportunities.


Athletics

Webster's athletic teams are known as the Gorloks and they compete in NCAA Division III, for 7 men's and 7 women's sports. Their distinctive colors are navy, gold and white.
